The Five Second Test
It’s often said that the first impression is often the most important one. And nothing is more important in web design. If your site isn’t immediately clear and designed well, your visitor will likely hit the most common – and dreaded – button out there…the back button!
That’s why the five second test can be so powerful.
It’s a simple concept:
I’ll show any webpage you specify to people for just five seconds and then ask them 3 questions about the experience:
- What do you think this page was about (testing initial understanding)
- Rate the quality of this page between 1 (worst) and 5 (best) (testing initial appeal)
- What was the company name (testing brand recall)

The Click Test
A click test gives website testers a challenge on your site. We could ask them where they would go to find information, buy something (although not actually buy the product), or sign up for your newsletter.
This test can help to identify and clarity or conversion obstacles, making it the best friend of user experience professionals and individuals who want to test out conversion obstacles.

Recruit Additional People to Test Your Website
In general, getting more people to test your website is always a good thing. More people reviewing your site means that the feedback becomes more reliable.
I can help you recruit as many additional people to be a part of your website test as you want.
Please contact me for larger orders in excess of 500 responses, as this can impact the delivery timeframe.
Cost: $40 for every additional 20 random US consumers, or $1/ response for every custom audience member recruited.
Recruit Any Target Audience You Want to Test Your Website
If you’d like a different target audience than random US consumers to test your website, then you’ll want to order the custom audience gig extra.
I will screen and recruit only the people who you want to test your website. Anyone who doesn’t meet your target audience definition will be disqualified.
You can define different custom audience target groups by:
- Age range
- Gender
- Geography
- Attitudes
- Psychographics
- Technographics
- Or any combination of the above
Cost: $10 for 10 responses, or $1 per response. For more complex or difficult recruits, please contact me for availability.
Ask Additional Questions
In addition to my standard battery of questions, you can add any other questions you’d like to ask to your test.
This is great if you have specific questions or you’d like to test for website bugs.

Crosstab Analysis
Do you want to see how your website test results vary by age, gender, or another characteristic of your audience? Then consider adding crosstab analysis
I’ll analyze your responses by age and gender, or any other criteria you specify.
This type of analysis can help shed light into how certain groups respond to your website compared to other groups.
